The Inner Soul of Capitalism
By Lise Skou
A photo series, 2015

"The crisis in capitalism is a crisis in the value of the self".

This line, taken from the book "The Meaning of Crisis" by James O'Conner,
(New York: Basil Blackwell, 1987), and is the foundation for this line of work.

Goya may have been referencing an allegory referring to the Greek myth of
Cadmus and the dragon's teeth: By the instructions of Athena, Cadmus sowed the
dragon's teeth in the ground, from which there sprang a race of fierce armed men.
By throwing a stone among them, Cadmus caused them to fall upon one another
until the other fell dead.
