      xx MOBILE TEA HOUSE

A CUDI project, 2001

Intervention

After a number of discussions amongst CUDI and a group of our neighbors we realized
that a mobile teahouse could provide the physical space for town meetings and social
platforms that were non-existing in Vollsmose.

We decided to create a teahouse based on openness and active participation from the
local community. The mobility was important in order to break down the barriers inside
of Vollsmose as well as in relation to the world “outside” the area.

The intention was to create a public space in dialogue with the environment. A space
to function in interaction with and influenced by its surroundings.

The teahouse was a flexible space that moved around the area. The users of the tea
house could change the interior and design and add something new and rebuilt it
depending on the situation and the needs of the users.
